We're able to rescue animals primarily in Southern California. If you're outside that area, we're not able to travel for pickup, but there are a few good directories where you can search for local 501(c)(3) rescues near you, including Petfinder's shelter search and Adopt-a-Pet's shelter finder .

A quick search for "non-profit animal rescue" plus your city or county is often the fastest way to find help nearby.

Litters need a different kind of support than what our current intake process is set up for, so we're not able to take litter requests through this form right now.

Once we receive your submission, our team reviews it and checks our current capacity before we can confirm anything.

We know that waiting can be hard when you're worried about an animal, so we do our best to get back to you as quickly as we can.

We're not always by the computer, but strive to follow up with as many rescue requests from Southern California as possible.

Please note that our capacity to house animals is limited, so we're generally only able to help you when there's a plan in place for the animal after treatment, whether that's you keeping them or another placement lined up.

We understand this is a painful decision, and we don't judge anyone for making it. As a small rescue, our space is almost always full with cats pulled from euthanasia lists, and we can rarely accept owner surrenders directly.

What we can usually do is help you rehome your cat yourself, which is usually the best outcome. Before contacting us, or any other rescue organization, please make sure that you have asked all of your friends and family for support.

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) means humanely trapping outdoor community cats, having them spayed or neutered and vaccinated, and returning them to their outdoor home.

It stops new litters from being born and lets healthy, unsocialized cats live out their lives without adding to shelter overpopulation.

Sierra Pacific Furbabies is an independent 501(c)(3) rescue. We pull cats and kittens from local shelters' euthanasia lists and off the streets, but we aren't a division of any city or county shelter or animal control agency.

We post stories about adoptable animals, rescue stories and updates regularly, and every follow, like and share genuinely helps raise more awareness about animals in need.

Our adoption fee is a suggested donation of $150 for a cat and $250 for a dog.

This fee helps cover the cost of care each animal receives before adoption, which typically includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, microchipping, deworming, flea treatment and FeLV/FIV testing.

Rescue is expensive, and this fee only covers part of what we actually spend caring for each cat or dog.

Availability changes quickly, but we should have the perfect cat for you! We update our Adopt a Pet account weekly with the list of animals available for adoption.

Every cat is different, but a slow, structured introduction gives you the best odds of success. Rushing is the most common reason introductions go badly.

Here's the process we recommend:

• Separate space first (days 1 to 3+): Keep the new cat in their own room with food, water, litter and hiding spots. This lets both cats adjust to sounds and smells without face to face pressure.
• Let them see each other gradually: Once both cats seem relaxed, use a cracked door, baby gate or screen door so they can see and sniff each other without full contact.
• Start with short, supervised visits: A few minutes of supervised time together, using treats or play to keep the mood positive. End the session before anyone gets tense, and gradually increase the time as things go well.
• Watch for the difference between normal and concerning: Some hissing, growling or one cat giving the other a wide berth is normal at first and usually settles down. Ongoing aggression, one cat refusing to eat or a cat hiding for days instead of gradually relaxing are signs to slow down and get in touch with us.

There's a role for every kind of helper! Hands-on cattery care includes feeding, cleaning litter boxes, bathing, brushing, and nail trims.

We also need volunteers for transporting cats to vet appointments and adoption events, photographing cats for their adoption profiles, fundraising and donations support, and behind-the-scenes help like laundry, organizing pet supplies, stocking food, and general cleaning.

No experience necessary. We'll train you for whatever role you take on.

If you're interested in more hands-on work like TNR trapping or medical support, prior experience helps but isn't required to get started.
