Adoption Pending Rosie RooAge: 10 months old
Gender: Female Breed: Siamese Color: White and Tan/Brown Purr-sonality: Rosie Roo is a ten month old Siamese girl who is looking for her forever home. She was found living in a wood pile in Dunsmuir with her mother and two brothers who are also up for adoption. A kind foster took this family in and has taken great care of them. Here is what the foster mom says, "Rosie is a small size girl with a very sweet personality who likes to cuddle. She might be unsure at first meeting but she warms up to you with treats and scratches." Rosie Roo would need to be a strictly indoor cat while she adjusts but eventually could venture outside in a backyard as long as the area is quiet. The foster lives in the countryside with no busy roads so the cats are safe and go outside and love to climb trees. Great with other respectful cats and small dogs. |
Adoption Pending ToulouseAge: 10 months old
Gender: Male Breed: Siamese Color: White and Tan/Brown Purr-sonality: Toulouse is a ten month old Siamese boy who is looking for his forever home. He was found living in a wood pile in Dunsmuir with his mother and two siblings who are also up for adoption. A kind foster took this family in and has taken great care of them. Here is what the foster mom says, "Toulouse is a cuddly love bug, he looks for laps to climb on and nuzzle. He gets along with everyone and everything. Very sweet and easy kitty to get to know. Doesn't enjoy car rides and he will let you know!" Toulouse has been primarily an indoor cat but likes to go outside. While we would prefer for him to be indoor-only, he may have different ideas. A backyard catio or yard with cat fencing would be great for him as long as the area is quiet. The foster lives in the countryside with no busy roads so the cats are safe to go outside and love to climb trees. Great with other respectful cats and small dogs. |
Adoption Pending AlphonseAge: 10 months old
Gender: Male Breed: Siamese Color: White and Tan/Brown Purr-sonality: Alphonse is a ten month old Siamese boy who is looking for his forever home. He was found living in a wood pile in Dunsmuir with his mother and two siblings who are also up for adoption. A kind foster took this family in and has taken great care of them. Here is what the foster mom says, "Out of the three siblings, Alphonse is going to need a special family who will be patient with him as he warms up to you. He is very timid around humans, but loves the other cats to play and cuddle with. It is successful to hold him and he will purr but never without your help. He is so beautiful and I feel with the right family his personality will really bloom." Alphonse would need to be a strictly indoor cat while he adjusts but eventually could venture outside in a backyard as long as the area is quiet. The foster lives in the countryside with no busy roads so the cats are safe and go outside and love to climb trees. Great with other respectful cats and small dogs. Alphonse is tested, neutered and vaccinated. He would do best of placed with at least one of his litter mates. All three together would be a dream come true. |

TillyAge: 4 years old
Gender: Female Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: Tortoiseshell Purr-sonality: Tilly is a sweet girl who is approximately 4 to 5 years old. She was found living in a wood pile with her three kittens in Dunsmuir and they were taken in by a kind foster. Her foster had this to say about her. "Tilly loves beds to herself unless there's a human to give her scratches. She loves the sound of a can opening and loves to eat! She is so cute and funny and will roll over for you to give her belly rubs. She is also very talkative and very sassy sweet! We love her fun personality!" Tilly is good with other cats and had no issues with the foster's small dog. |

Adoption Pending TonxAge: 1 year old
Gender: Female Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: Tabby Purr-sonality: Tonx was found rambling around a remote part of Fickle Hill in Arcata, CA. A resident of the area thought she might be pregnant and sought help for her. She turned out not to be pregnant after all, has been spayed, and fully vetted. She is ready to find her furever home. Tonx is very friendly and loving. She enjoys belly rubs and snuggling. Tonx would be a great family cat as she is gentle and tolerant. Her coat is a beautiful pattern of stripes with peach tones and an underbelly of cream, tan, and peach. Cute, cute, cute. |

TwinkleAge: 13 years old
Gender: Female Breed: Domestic Long Hair Color: Brown Tabby and White Purr-sonality: Twinkle, or "Twinky" as she is nicknamed is a no-nonsense, easy keeper who would make a great companion. She is 13 years young and uses the litter box just fine. She is a really nice kitty who gets along with other cats and tolerates dogs. Twinky is an easy keeper, no drama kind of kitty, who just enjoys being. She plays a little, cuddles, enjoys window-watching, and sitting in the sun on the porch on a cool day. In warm weather Twinky enjoys sitting on the porch in the shade. Twinky would do very well as an indoor cat with access to a catio. |

OenAge: 2 years old
Gender: Male Breed: Siamese Color: White Purr-sonality: Oen, which means little lamb in Welsh, is a Siamese mix youngster with taupe markings and blue eyes. He was born with some cranio-facial abnormalities, resulting in one eye with the third eyelid not completely opened and some incomplete sinus cavities. He sees adequately, but the rescue does not plan to have surgery done this spring to open the eye up due to the complexity of the surgery for a cat with respiratory issues.. His other issue is because of the sinus problems he sneezes a lot and can sound congested - because he is! None of this slows this boy down. He is very active and playful. He is a maniac with a feather stick and once he has captured it he runs off with it and won't let anyone near it - quite funny and cute. Oen is obsessed with shoe laces so we gave him a pair of old tennis shoes he loves to play with. He is too rowdy for very young children, but for older elementary aged children and up, he is all about the play and the loves. We hope Oen will find a home with someone who does not care about his looks or his congestion issues, but until then we would like to find him a foster home where he has more room to be his highly entertaining self. Having a similarly aged buddy would be perfect. A foster-to-adopt home would be ideal, while waiting for his surgery. |

Adoption Pending CowboyAge: 2 years old
Gender: Male Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: Black Purr-sonality: Cowboy was found near a cattle-raising country town, so the name Cowboy suits him. He appeared to have been abandoned but due to his extremely friendly nature he struck up a friendship with several folks in the neighborhood who started feeding him. One home in particular was struck by his loving nature and decided to get him neutered and introduce him to her indoor cat. Unfortunately, when he went to the vet, they discovered he was FIV positive. The home owner did not want the cat to mingle with her indoor cat (although research has shown FIV does not spread among cats that are fixed and do not fight) so she asked the vet practice to put him down. Not feeling comfortable about this the vet practice reached out to this rescue and we took him in. Cowboy is a delightful kitty. He is obviously well-fed (i.e. chunky) and is always ready for his next meal. Cowboy has adapted well to indoor life - FIV+ cats should not be outside where they can be exposed to cat diseases and parasites. Keeping them healthy is the path to them living a normal life with a normal life expectancy. One could not ask for a sweeter kitty pal - except maybe his buddy Beau Brummell. The two get along and are both FIV+. Adopting them both together would be great, but it is not a requirement. We do not know how Cowboy is with dogs, but he tolerates other cats fine as long as they do not attack him. He is playful but his favorite thing to do is hang out with people and get LOTS of "lovins." Cowboy is a large cat so we recommend a home with no one younger than 6 years old - he is heavy and young child would struggle to pick him up. Cowboy DOES like to be held but is nervous during the lifting process, probably he has been dropped before. Someone who knows how to pick up a cat safely and has the strength to do it will find him very affectionately nuzzling their neck and purring away. |

SierraAge: 1 year old
Gender: Female Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: Black Purr-sonality: Sierra was found with her three kittens living behind a gas station on a busy road trying to find scraps of food to eat. They were all semi feral and very afraid. That was almost a year ago and sadly as is all too common today, Sierra was a kitten having kittens. The kittens tamed easily and found loving homes and now it is Sierra's turn. She is about a year and a half and has a solid black shiny coat. She is good with other cats and used to dogs both small and large. In the beginning, when she saw me she would run away and when I had put the food down and moved a safe distance away, only then would she come and eat. That behavior lasted many months until she finally understood that there was nothing to fear. Now Sierra jumps up on the deck when she sees me coming and lets me rub her head and pet her. I can pick her up for vet appointments but she will stiffen up. She has mellowed tremendously but still has those moments when she will run away and wait. Sierra needs an experienced cat owner or someone who understands a wounded soul and is prepared to be patient and devote time and affection to a young cat who I believe will make a great companion. There is nothing mean about Sierra - even when I would reach to hold her she never tried to bite or scratch me. With other cats, she is an easy keeper, a blender who doesn't want to be the center of attention. Sierra is healthy, spayed, vaccinated and Felv/Fiv negative. She knows her name and will come when called unless she is having one of those days when she is feeling fearful. Although she loves the outdoors, I think she could easily transition to indoor only as long as she has a window to look out from. |

AstraAge: 2 years old
Gender: Female Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: White Purr-sonality: Astra is the mother of Izzy. She was rescued near starvation from an abandoned home with approximately 20 other cats. Astra was pregnant at the time and ended up giving birth to another litter of kittens soon after rescue. Initially fearful and with no idea of what it was like to be a cozy secure housecat, Astra has slowly warmed up and turned into a cautious but nice kitty. She loves hanging out in the kitchen "helping" load the dishwasher and supervising the meal prep. Her nickname is "Beepers" because of her cute little noises. Like her daughter Izzy she does not meow. She loves spending time with her foster family who are all adults. She has no experience with children. There are other cats in the home and she has also slowly grown to be ok with them. However, Astra would adore being the one and only cat in someone's life. She is able to keep herself amused while the adults are working and enjoy time with them when they are home. She needs someone patient who will let her warm up slowly to her adopters. Once she does she will continue to bloom. She has no experience with dogs. |

Adoption Pending MystiAge: 6 years old
Gender: Female Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: Grey/Blue/Silver and White Purr-sonality: Mysti is a sweet and sensitive girl with a calm disposition. Her owners moved out of their home and unfortunately left Mysti behind. She was found sitting on the porch in the cold waiting for someone to come home. Thankfully the neighbors heard her cries and were able to take her in temporarily. I think she is around 6 years old. She has been spayed, tested negative for Felv/Fiv and has all her shots. She has mild tartar on her teeth and is scheduled for a dental on January 7th so she would be available for adoption after the 14th. Mysti is around other cats and gets on well with them. If a cat is aggressive with her she will show her displeasure and back off. Mysti is a lover and not a fighter. She is used to both big and little dogs and they don't faze her. Mysti knows her name and comes when called. She longs for love pats and attention but is not needy. She would do well in a calm home with older children or with a single person or couple. She has no bad habits and uses the litter box with no issues. She would be a great indoor cat and the type who would sit in the window and watch the world go by. She also likes the patio and to sit in front of the house. Mysti would make a wonderful companion cat once she has adjusted to her new home. |

CocoaAge: 4 years old
Gender: Female Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: Tortoiseshell Purr-sonality: Cocoa is approximately four years young and is waiting for a home of her own. She was a painfully thin stray when she found my place; a little afraid and cautious at first and yet when she realized that she was going to have a warm bed and good food, she quickly came around. Cocoa has the most beautiful mottled beige and gray fur coat which makes her stand out in a crowd. She is a relatively passive, quiet girl who minds her own business and just gets on with life. Cocoa does not like drama. She is fine with other cats and tries to make friends with them, and she is calm around dogs both big and small. Cocoa is loving but not needy. In a new home she would be wary at first and hide, but once she realizes that she is part of the family she will soon warm up. She is both indoor and outdoor right now but could easily transition to an indoor only life. Cocoa is spayed, has all her shots and is felv/fiv negative. She is an excellent mouser and and easy keeper. |

HopeAge: 1 year old
Gender: Female Breed: Domestic Medium Hair Color: Tuxedo Purr-sonality: Hope is a petite one year old (approx.) black and white kitty who had a rough start in life. She was brought into my vet heavily pregnant with no home to go to. She was semi feral and very hissy and afraid. The vet called me and asked if I could take her. I did and I called her Hope because even though the odds were stacked against her, I believed that this girl could be tamed and she could get the home she deserved. Two days later she gave birth to five kittens, all who died within ten days. Poor Hope! She was a kitten having kittens and didn't know how to be a mother - it was very sad and I felt that she was grieving. It was at this time that she began to let me touch her. Slowly at first but then she would come up to me for head rubs. Eventually she started to trust me and I could pick her up! No growling, hissing or running away. I had her fixed and vaccinated and she started to mingle with the other rescues. Hope has been with me for six months and is ready to find her permanent home. She wants to bond with someone and belong. Hope is fine around other cats and is used to dogs. She would do well in a peaceful home without young children because often their actions are loud and quick and Hope is sometimes afraid of quick, sudden movements. Loud noises scare her. She loves food and this is the way to her heart. No bad habits and she uses the litter box just fine. |

P.J.Age: 8 years old
Gender: Male Breed: Domestic Long Hair Color: Tuxedo Purr-sonality: This 8 yr old fellow, P.J., was living contentedly with his owner, a paraplegic Vietnam Veteran, who had rescued him off the streets, when a tragic house fire occurred. Somehow P.J. survived event although his owner did not. His kind-hearted neighbor, who happens to foster for us, took him in and cared for him until the owner's son was able to make decisions about the future of many things, PJ included. PJ suffered from smoke inhalation but kept returning to his home crying throughout the burned ruins. We were concerned for his health and safety but it was impossible to contain him inside. Once the son decided to let P.J. be surrendered in order to find him a new home, we were able to get him the necessary vetting he needed. The vet describes him as a very nice boy, who just wants to loved on. His current foster describes him as a wonderful boy who is still grieving. P.J. needs a new start with someone loving and kind, someone who can help heal his grieving heart. He has lived his whole life as an indoor-outdoor cat but does enjoy being warm and cozy. At his age, it is time to give him all the comforts and only let him outside if he demands it. |

MarcoAge: 10 years old
Gender: Male Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: Black Purr-sonality: Meet the intrepid Marco. Named for the explorer Marco Polo, this guy has exploration and discovery down to a science. Famous for exploring the entire veterinary office when he was first rescued, he is a favorite with the vet staff. Marco adores people and gets along with most cats once he knows them. He has a huge purr and loves snuggles and pets more than food. He was very thin when first rescued and is starting to fill out now he has had regular food and a warm bed in which to sleep. We would love for him to have a senior to foster him. He would keep someone great company. He is a nice boy who interacts easily with both adults and cat-friendly children. Marco is an affection machine. He stands up to give your hand a head bunt, grabs your hand with both paws to let you know he doesn't want you to stop petting him, and he follows you around like a lost puppy. Simply a wonderful loving companion who will bring you much joy. Like a fine wine he has improved with age. Marco gets along with other cats too. |
